tapestries

Tapestry is defined as a thick textile fabric in which colored weft threads are woven into fixed warp threads to form an image. The designs are based on paintings. Viewed up close, the pieces look like pointillist or impressionist artwork, with colors being formed visually, through combinations of threads in the weaving. Exactness of detail, the distinctive look, and the authentic mark made by the hand of the artist appears in these thoroughly contemporary works. These limited edition artworks are created through Maria Lobo’s collaboration with design and technology innovators in California and a small, family-owned mill in Belgium. Through a unique process, employing the most innovative technology, modern techniques allow extraordinarily rich and detailed translation of Maria Lobo’s artwork image into woven fabric.
